(Jesus, Others and Yourself)
Joy is an essential spiritual practice growing out of faith, grace, gratitude, hope, and love.
It is the pure and simple delight in being alive. Joy is our elated response to feelings of happiness, experiences of pleasure, and awareness of abundance. It is also the deep satisfaction we know when we are able to serve others and be glad for their good fortune.
Life is not meant to be endured; it is to be enjoyed. Our Ladies' JOY Group (Jesus, Others, Yourself) love having a good time planning activities to help and support other ministries. We have a meeting the 2nd Monday of each month at 7PM. The group has many special activities planned for the upcoming months.
Youth Forestry Camp
Youth Forestry Camp # 3 is a 50-bed open residential facility located on the grounds of Trough Creek State Park. The mission of the Youth Forestry Camp is to support positive change in delinquent youth behavior through multiple programs in an open, safe environment and to provide programs that meet the needs of juvenile offenders.
The JOY Group desires to convey to the students that Christ’s love gives hope, joy, meaning and purpose to them. Twice a year, Christmas and Easter, we visit the boys and share a devotional.
In preparation for the Christmas visit, each month the JOY Group collects different items from the congregation for the Youth Camp. In December, the JOY Group wraps the items, visits the boys for a devotional, and gives each boy a Christmas box containing a Bible and and other useful items, the congregation bakes and provides the cookies.
Father’s Day Breakfast
Father's Day is a great way to celebrate the fathers in the congregation and show appreciation for everything they do year-round. To honor the fathers, the JOY Group prepares and serves breakfast to the Dads. Each year a different theme is selected for the decorating and games to add to the fun.
It is customary for the JOY Group to prepare and serve meals for a time of fellowship at the church following the funeral of a church members.
